Website Design

We know that your website can make the difference between you and your competitors. If you do not have a web site yet or need to have your current website re-designed we can create a bespoke website design that will help you attract new clients and expand your business.

When we design your website we listen to your ideas and then fit this around our knowledge of design and the Internet to get a website that fulfils all your needs.

Some of the things we take into consideration during the design process include:

  • Working to International Website Design standards
  • Designing to UK Government accessibility guidelines
  • Minimising download times for quick access
  • Designing for visitors AND search engines

Our portfolio covers a wide range of industry sectors, specialising in designing and building dynamic websites with intuitive content management systems and e-commerce capability.

There is a new thing happening with Web Design. We are right at the front of this new wave, it's called...

Design for Purpose.

Let's face it, most design is undertaken with colours, shapes, images and buttons in mind. Fair enough. But did you consider your audience?

Or were you too focused on getting ALL of your information into your website? This is a common mistake made by many web design companies.

Did you know that our most successful websites were built back to front?

Also please resist the urge to forget your website once completed.  Again, our most successful clients use many techniques to engage their web visitors and turn them into clients and customers. Try these:

  • Regular website updates using your own content management system
  • Regular communication direct with your web visitors, through newletters or email campaigns
  • Monitor your visitors use of your website through Google Analytics - why not? Its free!

Use your website as a business tool, not just a brochure and you will be surprised how well it can perform.

On a lighter note here are some interesting facts about websites (and other nonsense):

  • Tim Berners-Lee, an English software consultant widely acknowledged as the inventor of the web, was working at CERN in Switzerland in 1980 and created a computer program he called Enquire. This was designed for his personal use. He lost that code when he left CERN. Was this the first version of the World Wide Web?
  • Early names for the Web were: "Information Mesh", "Mine of Information" and "The Information Mine" (but Berners-Lee thought the acronym, TIM, was too egocentric!).
  • 79% of users always scan; only 16% read word-by-word.
  • Reading from computer screens is 25% slower than from paper.
  • Web content should be 50% the size of its paper equivalent.
  • Fancy a very long domain name?
    How about this: www.didyouknowthatyoucanonlyhavesixty-threecharactersinadomain-name.com
  • The computer in your mobile phone today is a million times cheaper and a thousand times more powerful and about a hundred thousand times smaller - than the one computer at MIT (Massachusetts Institute Of Technology - a big American place with lots of posh computers) in 1965. Now that's progress, or is it?
  • Did you know that Backrub was the original name for the Google search engine?!
  • If you can raed tihs tehn you wlil hvae adearly reiaesld taht msot plpeoe don’t raed the wohle wrod wehn readnig txet.

If you have some interesting or silly web stuff and want a mention; please send it to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . If it gets published on here, you will get a name check and a link to your website. How kind!
